Quinta do Lago Laranjal Course: The Algarve's most charming and picturesque golf course

Golf at Quinta do Lago is shaped by the landscape itself: pine forests, lakes, and the protected beauty of the Ria Formosa. Across three award-winning courses — South, North and Laranjal — players experience variety, challenge and unforgettable views at every turn. The South Course has hosted the Portuguese Open, the North was redesigned with Paul McGinley, and Laranjal remains a favourite for its setting and flow. Backed by world-class facilities and expert coaching, this is golf at the highest level — in one of Europe’s most remarkable locations.

Laranjal opened in 2009 and was voted Best Golf Course at the 2011 Portuguese Travel Awards.

Originally an orange grove, the par 72 championship course is situated 2 km east of the resort, in the Ludo Valley.

Boasting spectacular fairways and well-defined greens, Laranjal is renowned for its five beautiful lakes, umbrella pines, cork-oaks and orange trees.

At 6,480 metres in length, the challenging course demands the highest level of concentration and accuracy. Its distinctive rolling terrain has been expertly designed and manicured to provide a world-class golfing experience.

Featuring five par 5s, eight par 4s and five par 3s, the course is sown with Bermuda grass on the fairways and Penn A4 on the greens, ensuring excellent putting surfaces throughout the year.

Quinta do Lago proudly offers coaching and support to golfers in its prestigious academy, with the support of the state-of-the-art analytical and performance enhancing technology at the TaylorMade Performance Centre. 

Quinta do Lago is home to the only Paul McGinley Academy in the world. Founded in 2011 by the captain of the 2014 Winning Ryder Cup team, the academy aims to cultivate and improve golfers by providing you with the tools and techniques used by professionals on tour.
