🇨🇦 🏌🏽♂️ RBC Canadian Open – June 5-8, 2025 – TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course), Caledon, Ontario • Canada

The RBC Canadian Open is one of the oldest golf tournaments in the world, having been founded in 1904.
The 2024 edition was held at Hamilton Golf & Country Club, Canada. Robert MacIntyre, the Scottish left-hander, made history, claiming his first PGA Tour title. One of the most heartwarming aspects of MacIntyre's win was the presence of his father, Dougie, as his caddie. With a steady performance throughout the week, MacIntyre entered the final round with a four-stroke lead. Despite the pressure, he held his nerve and carded a 2-under 68 to secure a one-stroke victory over🇺🇸Ben Griffin. The final putt on the 18th green sealed the deal, sparking jubilation for the Scottish golfer and his family.
🧐 Nick Taylor was the last Canadian golfer to win the RBC Canadian Open. He achieved this historic feat in 2023, ending a 69-year drought for Canadian winners at the tournament.
📐 The original architect of the North Course at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley was Doug Carrick. However, the course has undergone recent renovations led by Ian Andrew. Andrew, who previously worked with Carrick on the original design, has been tasked with enhancing the course to meet the demands of high-level championship golf.
🏆🍁 The trophy awarded to the winner of the RBC Canadian Open is a prestigious silver trophy crafted in Colonial Williamsburg. It features a map of Canada etched onto the top dome, surrounded by maple leaves and provincial/territorial flags. The base of the trophy is made of Canadian maple and is inscribed with the names of all past champions.
💰 Purse: $9,800,000
💯 FedExCup: 500 pts
Previous winner: 🏴 Robert MacIntyre ($1,692,000)
🏆 Winner 2025: 🇳🇿 Ryan Fox ($1,764,000) - Age: 38 - Turned Pro in 2011.
This win marks Fox's second PGA Tour victory in just over a month (following his triumph at the Myrtle Beach Classic in May - see our article). Fox defeated American Sam Burns in a dramatic four-hole playoff. Both players finished the regulation 72 holes tied at 18-under par (262); Fox posted a final round of 4-under 66, while Burns made a spectacular charge with an 8-under 62 to force the extra holes. The playoff unfolded on the par-5 18th hole, where Fox ultimately secured the victory with a crucial birdie on the fourth playoff hole.
💡 Did you know that... Ryan Fox hails from a distinguished New Zealand sporting lineage; his father, Grant Fox, is a legendary All Blacks rugby player and World Cup winner, while his maternal grandfather, Merv Wallace, was a notable Test cricket captain. Interestingly, despite his current success, Fox was a relative late bloomer in golf, initially focusing on rugby and cricket like his family, and only seriously pursuing golf in his late teens, even admitting he struggled to break 80 on non-home courses at 18.
🇺🇸 🏌🏽♂️ U.S Open – June 12-15, 2025 – Oakmont Country Club, Pennsylvania • USA

However, the course has been significantly influenced and redesigned over the years by other renowned architects, including Willie Park, Jr. (who made significant alterations to the course in the early 1900s) and Robert Trent Jones Sr. (who redesigned the course in the 1950s and 1960s, making it more challenging and strategic).

💰 Purse: $21,500,000
💯 FedExCup: 750 pts
Previous winner: 🇺🇸 Bryson DeChambeau ($4,300,000)
🏆 Winner 2025: 🇺🇸 J.J. Spaun ($4,300,000) - Age: 34 - Turned Pro in 2012.
Spaun secured his maiden major championship title by finishing as the only player under par at 1-under 279, overcoming a challenging final round and a leaderboard that saw numerous contenders falter. Despite a shaky start with five bogeys in his first six holes on Sunday, a lengthy weather delay seemed to reset his momentum. Spaun clawed his way back into contention, ultimately sealing his two-shot victory over Scotland's Robert MacIntyre with an incredible 65-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole, marking the longest putt made by any player throughout the entire championship. His resilient performance at one of golf's most demanding courses highlighted his composure under pressure, especially given the turbulent conditions of the final day.
💡 Did you know that... the 2025 U.S. Open title was J.J. Spaun's second career PGA Tour victory. His first career PGA Tour win was the 2022 Valero Texas Open.
🇺🇸 🏌🏽♂️ Travelers Championship – June 19-22, 2025 – TPC River Highlands Cromwell, Connecticut • USA
The Travelers Championship traces its roots back to 1952 when it was founded as the Insurance City Open. Held in Hartford, Connecticut, the tournament aimed to raise funds for local charities. Over the years, the tournament has undergone several name changes, including the Greater Hartford Open, the Canon Greater Hartford Open, and the Buick Championship. In 2007, The Travelers Companies became the title sponsor, and the event was renamed the Travelers Championship. Initially, the tournament was played at Wethersfield Country Club. However, in 1984, it moved to the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, where it has been held ever since.
📐 The primary architect responsible for the design of TPC River Highlands is Pete Dye (🧐 see our article '📐The most famous Golf course architects and their greatest masterpieces ⛳️'). He significantly redesigned the course in 1982, shaping it into the challenging layout that it is today. However, it's important to note that the course has undergone further renovations and modifications over the years. In 1989, Bobby Weed, in consultation with PGA Tour professionals Howard Twitty and Roger Maltbie, made additional changes to enhance the course's playability and strategic challenges.
😮 Jim Furyk set an incredible record at TPC River Highlands in 2016, shooting a mind-boggling 58 in the final round. This is the lowest round ever recorded on the PGA Tour.
🏆 Scottie Scheffler's 2024 Travelers Championship victory was a testament to his incredible form and dominance on the PGA Tour. In a dramatic finish, Scheffler and Tom Kim found themselves tied after regulation play. The playoff was short-lived, with Scheffler securing the win on the first extra hole. This victory marked Scheffler's 6th win of the 2024 season, a remarkable feat that hadn't been achieved since Tiger Woods in 2009. It solidified his position as the world's number one golfer and showcased his ability to perform under pressure.
💰 Purse: $20,000,000
💯 FedExCup: 700 pts
Previous winner: 🇺🇸 Scottie Scheffler ($3,600,000)
🏆 Winner 2025: 🇺🇸 Keegan Bradley ($3,600,000) - Age: 39 - Turned Pro in 2008.
Bradley, a New England native, carded a final round of 2-under 68 to finish at 15-under-par 265 for the tournament, securing a one-shot victory. He dramatically snatched the win from England's Tommy Fleetwood and American Russell Henley, who both finished tied for second at 14-under. Bradley, who was three shots behind with just four holes to play, showcased remarkable composure, highlighted by a crucial 35-foot birdie on the 15th hole and a tournament-winning six-foot birdie putt on the 18th. This marks Bradley's 8th career PGA Tour title and his 2nd win at the Travelers Championship (he won the Tournament in 2023), further solidifying his case for a potential playing-captain role for the upcoming Ryder Cup.
💡 Did you know that... Growing up in Woodstock, Vermont, Bradley was an accomplished all-state ski racer. However, as a teenager, he made the pivotal decision to abandon skiing and focus solely on golf, a choice that clearly paid off. Golf truly runs in the Bradley family. His father, Mark Bradley, is a PGA of America Golf Professional. His aunt is🏌🏻♀️ Pat Bradley (born in 1951), an LPGA legend and World Golf Hall of Fame member, who won 31 LPGA Tour events, including six major championships. Founded in 1899, the Detroit Golf Club boasts a rich history dating back over 125 years. The club has attracted prominent members from the Detroit area, including Henry Ford and his son Edsel Ford.📐The architect responsible for designing the Detroit Golf Club's two 18-hole courses is Donald Ross (🧐 see our article '📐The most famous Golf course architects and their greatest masterpieces ⛳️'). Born in Scotland, Ross's passion for golf led him to become one of the most influential course designers of the early 20th century.
The Detroit Golf Club is one of the flattest courses on the PGA Tour, making it a bit of a unique challenge for players accustomed to more hilly layouts.
💰 Purse: $9,600,000
💯 FedExCup: 500 pts
Previous winner:🇦🇺 Cam Davis ($1,656,000)
🏆 Winner 2025: 🇿🇦 Aldrich Potgieter ($1,728,000) - Age: 20 - Turned Pro in 2023.
Aldrich Potgieter clinched his maiden PGA Tour victory at the 2025 Rocket Classic in a dramatic five‑hole sudden‑death playoff at Detroit Golf Club. After posting a stellar 22‑under‑par 266 through 72 holes, tied with Max Greyserman and veteran Chris Kirk, Potgieter showcased remarkable composure under pressure. He sealed the win by sinking an 18‑foot birdie putt on the fifth playoff hole par‑3 No. 15 to outlast his competitors. His triumph marks him as the youngest South African and only the seventh youngest golfer overall since 1983 to win on the PGA Tour. This victory not only secures his full PGA Tour status for the next two seasons but also earns him $1.728 million plus invitations to the 2026 Masters and PGA Championship.
💡 Did you know that...
🥇Before turning professional, Potgieter had a highly decorated amateur career. He won the prestigious Amateur Championship (often referred to as the British Amateur) in 2022 at just 17 years old, becoming the second-youngest winner in the history of that event. He also won the South African Amateur Stroke Play Championship and the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley (a top junior tournament in the US).
🏉🤼♂️ Potgieter is known for his prodigious driving distance. As of late June 2025, he leads the PGA Tour in driving distance, averaging 326.6 yards, which is several yards longer than Rory McIlroy, who is second. His coach attributes some of his power to his multi-sport childhood, which included rugby and wrestling.
🌍 Potgieter was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but moved to Perth, Western Australia, with his family at age 8. He returned to South Africa at 17 because COVID-19 pandemic policies in Australia were hindering his ability to compete in tournaments, showing his dedication to his golf career.
