  • Founded in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus, the Memorial Tournament is a prestigious PGA TOUR event held at Muirfield Village Golf Club. The tournament honors golf’s legends and is known for its respectful atmosphere and significant charitable impact, raising over $5.3 million for local causes in 2025.

  • Muirfield Village was designed by Jack Nicklaus in 1974, inspired by the famous Muirfield in Scotland, where Nicklaus won his first Open Championship. The course is renowned for its wide fairways, fast greens, and the challenging "Green Mile" (holes 16-18), one of the toughest finishes on the PGA TOUR.

  • The winner receives a silver trophy and an engraved Rolex watch, symbolizing excellence and tradition.

👉🏼 J.T. Poston captured the 2026 Memorial Tournament, earning the biggest victory of his career and his 4th PGA Tour win. Poston finished at 12-under-par and defeated fellow American Ryan Gerard in a sudden-death playoff after both players completed regulation tied at the top of the leaderboard. After matching pars on the first extra hole, Poston prevailed on the second playoff hole. Wyndham Clark finished solo third, one stroke behind the playoff.

The tournament was made even more challenging by severe weather that disrupted play during the weekend, forcing players to complete a demanding schedule on Sunday. Poston showed remarkable composure throughout the final round, including a crucial birdie on the 72nd hole that allowed him to catch Gerard and force the playoff.

  •  He played collegiate golf at Western Carolina University, a program that rarely produces PGA Tour winners, making his rise to the elite level particularly impressive.

  • Poston briefly lost his PGA Tour card early in his career and had to rebuild through the developmental tours before becoming a multiple-time PGA Tour champion.

  • Known for his relaxed demeanor and smooth putting stroke, Poston is widely regarded as one of the PGA Tour's most resilient competitors, often performing his best under pressure despite not being among the longest hitters on Tour.

  • Founded in 1895, the U.S. Open is one of golf’s four major championships. 

  • Shinnecock Hills, established in 1891, is the oldest incorporated golf club in the U.S. and has hosted the U.S. Open five times (1896, 1986, 1995, 2004, 2018). The course is renowned for its demanding links-style layout and fast greens.

  • Shinnecock Hills was originally designed by Willie Dunn and later redesigned by William Flynn in the 1930s. A major restoration by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2012 preserved its historic character while modernizing key features.

  • The U.S. Open Trophy is one of the most prestigious in golf, symbolizing victory in one of the toughest tournaments in the world.
